There’s a cool feature in a (debatably cool) national magazine that runs a “My Mom, the Style Icon” feature every month. Every time we see it, we think of our own stylish mom. We piled on her funky jewelry and of-the-moment makeup to be gypsies every year for Halloween (she’s still mad about that), we have a photographic memory of the shoes she wore (even if she doesn’t—but how can you forget Famolares?), and she’s still influencing us—with more than just her style. Without Mom, we wouldn’t be the independent go-getters we are today, nor would we have that invaluable sense of self that keeps our chins up—even when life is less than ideal. Just like when we were kids, Mom believes in us, and thanks to her support we feel smart, pretty, and worthwhile. So here’s to all the moms and moms-to-be out there in Portland Picks Land.
