Bee and Thistle is one of our absolute favorites. And in conjunction with our special Big Bam! Splurge event, they are having their annual sidewalk sale starting Friday the 9th through Sunday the 11th. Everything on sale is 50% to 75% off. To see it is to believe it, beyond a good deal, all for such a very good cause.

You must check out their handbag selection. Their handbags continue to drive their summer business and they just received their first order of J-Lo handbags...(we know what you’re thinking: huh, J. Lo? But, trust us, they're really, really cute). They also just got new shipments of Hype and Isabella Fiore.

Make sure to also check out their fun new belt line from LA. It’s called Wink, reversible fabric belts with a scarf print on one side and a solid on the other. They also have a nice array of shawls, capelets and ponchos that no summer wardrobe is complete without. Bee and Thistle also carries one of our favorite local jewelry designers, Luscious, and they have a new line of yummy yellow and pink. So refreshing!

  5 Emily-Jane
1623 NE 15th Avenue
(503) 460-0516
www.emily-jane.com

Emily Jane is one of our all time favorite Portland Picks. Featured in Lucky magazine, celebrities such as Amy Smart shop here among many other glamour girls from Portland and all over the country (including some very BIG names we aren’t allowed to print).

It’s so much fun to visit this bright and sparkling studio and relax at the bar and sip champagne while they bejewel you in exquisite pieces that are complementary to your personal style.

What’s hot right now:

  • The Wilma Necklace: This is our new favorite! Inspired by the classic strand of pearls, vintage Swarovski® crystals are hand knotted on pale pink silk cord. Expect this necklace to become a wardrobe staple to be worn with dress or with your favorite t-shirt and jeans. It is beyond cute, super sassy and downright festive.
  • Thai Silver Choker is a sexy look on its own. This choker of Thai silver and the softest suede is also a great layering piece. Jane likes to wear this with one or two other stone necklaces. This is very durable suede. It is so stylish and exceptionally unique.
  • Cocktail Hour Earrings: Absolutely dazzling is how we feel when we wear these earrings. At 4" in length they make a beautiful & shimmery statement with any outfit. These are Jane's favorite; she wears them with jeans. These are also available in semi- precious stones. Amy Smart has a pair in dreamy blue Peruvian Opal.

Other hot designs that are brand new and waiting for you:

  • Metropolitan: A necklace of chocolate suede, tarnished sterling silver and antique Swarovski Crystals. Lots of sexy texture.
  • Boheme: A dramatic look that can be worn casually or to a special event. This necklace features three strands of gems varying in length with a stunning gemstone pendant suspended from the middle strand. Very hard to resist.

You will be bejeweled and beguiled at Emily-Jane. And you’ll probably see us there, curled up at the bar. We are moving in!

Hub Optix
700 SW 5th Avenue
(503) 242-9090
lomly1021@att.net

Hub Optix is one of our favorite swanky eyewear stores, very New York, hip, with all the latest styles.

They just got in a hot new well-respected, high quality line. Anybody that knows about eyewear will recognize the name of this line. Alain Mikli has introduced many new high quality styles to the market -everything from large chunky plastic frames to colorful semi-rimless frames. Their classic semi-rimless frames are in full effect only they have added new features like swivel hinges and double nose bridges.

The style currently is BIG. The bigger the better and Alain Mikli, Oliver Peoples and Face a Face are keeping the style alive. A newcomer to this area is Robert Marc. He has given the industry a classic design with the added modernization of creative colors and features. Oakleys are always in as they are one of the best self-advertised collection on the market. Rimless frames are also doing well. Kawasaki has added facets or jewels to the frames and 2.5 frames have been made to be even thinner and lighter.

We just bought the most beautiful black and pink Jackie O sunglasses at Hub Optix and we are so famously popular now! Now, it’s your turn. Run along to Hub Optix, pick up some swanky shades, and experience your fifteen minutes!

www.ingoodtastestore.com

What’s hot in the Kitchen:

This is the kit for us! It is called "Romantic Dinner Kit for 2: The gourmet solution for today's time-starved home chef" and it's created by a company called "Style & Entertaining".

In Good Taste has the perfect product for you, our dear sweet friend! This range won the best of show at the recent "Gourmet Show" in San Francisco. It is a style and entertaining kit that provides easy-to-follow steps for gourmet cooking, food and wine pairing and entertaining at home. The focus is on ease and style. People don't have time to do it all anymore. This product line offers convenience, healthy foods, ease, comprehension (important for us!) and makes entertaining lots of fun and something you can be proud of, down to every last detail.

These kits make great gifts for bridal showers, engagements, new homeowners. Basically it is perfect for anyone who loves to entertain but doesn't have a lot of time (isn't that all of us?)

They have so many things we love, but we also just want to mention their Salt. Didn’t people once kill for salt, or at least travel the world for it and in doing so, discover America? Salt is so IT, so cool, and now you can collect it. (C’mon, who do you know that collects salt?! At a minimum, people who view your collection will believe you actually may be an Iron Chef.)

In Good Taste has a world of salts! You’ve never seen such a collection- pink salt from the Himalayas (of course our fave), salt from Bali, black Indian salt, pink salt from Australia (also our fave), red Hawaiian salt, Fleur de Sel from France (but of course). They also have the latest kitchenware, flatware, glassware. Everything they carry is HOT, HOT, HOT! (Don’t forget the salt!)

Matisse
1411 NE Broadway
(503) 287-5414

Matisse is like a large walk in closet filled with feminine dresses, vintage accessories. It is reminiscent of Anthropologie but everything they sell is of a higher quality. The wonderful women of Matisse take one look at you and find the perfect outfit that will make you look and feel sexy and feminine. Immediately, you wonder how you ever lived without the dress.

Check out their sage oils with no alcohol or water, in a deep and dense fragrance. Or see their line of Tocca candles and bath products. They have the most gorgeous selection of vintage looking dresses. They are where we go for dresses for any occasion. While you’re there don’t miss their lush Margaret O’Leary cashmere hoodies that can take us all into fall.

  12 Physical Element
1124 NW Lovejoy Street
(503 224-5425
www.physicalelement.com

We love Physical Element. We feel like pretty little athletes, hard-core yoganistas. It is almost like we actually know what we are doing when clad in their super feminine, ultra cool fitness wear.

Some of our favorites: They carry Lululemon Athletica. They are just one of only two stores in Portland that carries this amazing line. Awesome fit and interesting silhouettes, our favorite is a gorgeous top called the Whisper Tank, featuring a deep V-neckline, and modified Mandarin collar. You’ll love that their tops are cut a little longer and don't cling to the midriff, heaven forbid.

They have also just received some fun new Thai pants in from Satya (an Australian line). These are sooo cute; you’ll wear them all the time. They have them in black or lavender. These are wonderful, lightweight cotton voile drawstring pants with a beautiful contrast embroidery around the waist. Great for post-yoga or just running around town with friends.

They also have adorable new bike shorts that, gasp, look like shorts. Cute drawstring waist, small cargo pockets, and of course padding. These are a perfect alternative to the traditional tight, paneled shorts (which they also have). And they have oodles more. For all your fitness needs, you MUST go to Physical Element in the Pearl.
