Butt Boosting Lingerie!
Thanks to the likes of J. Lo, we’ve moved on from ta-tas to tush. Butts are back in a BIG way. They are even dedicating swanky fitness classes in New York to chiseling that perfect butt. But (no pun intended), who has time for that? Never fear, Bubbles is here! Bubbles is the new must-have jeans accessory!

This terrific booty lingerie uses your own assets to create a sexy profile with comfort and style! Use Bubbles to accentuate a small behind (Bubbles Bands) or for elegantly simple leg control (ThighShapers).

So come on ladies… give that tush a push, use your assets and improve that bottom line! (We never thought you’d hear that from us!)

Cole Haan Audrey Pump, $175, in a red croc print.

This is our transition from pointy to round toed. We take it slow, and we can take it with anything classic.

We especially go weak with these, with the darling color, retro classic style, and croc texture. And of course the name ‘Audrey’.

We can’t resist these lady like kickers.

Riding or Aviator Boots:
Leather “Aviator” Boots by Hogan, 888-604-6426,Like these to go with our pretend riding gear. (To give the illusion that we ride of course. Why else?)

In fact, many moons ago, I wore this get-up – official looking riding boots, pants, and jacket - to the Hunt, a big steeplechase in Jackie O country, and there met my husband.

So there. (Must mean something, non?)

The mirror that never lies.

“Do I look fat?” Just when we perfected the skinny position when admiring, scrutinizing ourselves in the mirror. We got used to our flat two-dimensional image, kinda liked it even. And now they come out with a mirror that doesn’t lie! Maybe we want it to lie; maybe we want it to tell us we are the fairest of them all, that we are skinnier than we thought. Maybe we don’t want to know that we are less than perfect, a bit too asymmetrical than we ever realized, and that all this time others were seeing us quite differently.

Of course, getting used to a 3–dimensional image is no easy task. The image isn’t reversed like a flat 2 dimensional traditional mirror. You look fuller in the face, off balance, more bulbous, but you also look alive and animated and “True.”

Like a kid gazing into a funhouse mirror, you want to analyze, stair, dance around …since it’s all so different. If you so dare to see what others see, check out yours truly in the True Mirror.

  Must Have cd:

Ambulance, Ltd.

We’ve been yearning for an Indy band with a distinctly different sound, and we’re willing to bet you’ll love Ambulance Ltd.’s new self-titled CD; look for the influences of the Smiths, Lennon, and various ‘90’s bands.

Picture yourself floating away on a cloud and then being gently pulled back down to earth with some guitar-riffing and soft drums --- we love Primitive (The Way I Treat You) and Sugar Pill --- both are a testament to this band’s oddly ethereal sound.

Ambulance, currently making the rounds on late night talk shows and the club circuit, should be around for awhile if this first effort is any sign of what’s to come…

I Tunes Song of the Week:

Avril Lavigne’s, My Happy Ending

“You were everything, everything that I wanted. We were meant to be, suppose to be, but we lost it. All this time you were pretending, so much for my happy ending.”

“It’s nice to know that you were there. Thanks for acting like you care.” Blah, blah, blah…..good chick tunes.

***And remember, Sting and Annie Lennox are coming to the Rose Garden October 7th. We’ll have our favorite Sting/Annie Mix for you soon! ***

Portland Picks Back to School Shopping:

Your precious babies are an extension of you.

Their fashionable impression, their stylish cool, will be a chip of the old block, and the wardrobe you provide them will help them develop their own sense of style and unique identity as they grow.

Boys are definitely different from girls, if you hadn’t noticed. We like our boys to look and dress like real boys, but we like our sweet girls to dress like classic sugar and spice on occasion, and then like their Mum, pulling off that perfected grubby-with-finesse look.

We like clothes that say something unique about each person that wears them, and for kid’s sake, can be worn hard.

Take a look. Fashion for kids has never been so fashionable and fun!

We also depend on Old Navy, Gap and Nordstrom, as well as the Nike store to outfit our brood. And we can’t forget old faithful: Target, nothing like a one stop shopping for school supplies and groovy garb.

Frankly, for kids, Target makes the most sense. Where else can you get the latest styles and designers at discount prices.

And with the way kids grow and beat up their clothes, Target is our winner!

  Kumon Learning Centers:

Tis the season, and with budget cuts, we have heard wonders about these tutorial centers that can supplement your child’s curriculum or give them just a little boost they may need.

They are located everywhere, including -

Kumon Math & Reading
8409 SE Division St - (503) 777-8790

Kumon Math & Reading Center
10445 SW Canyon Rd Ste 115,
Beaverton - (503) 626-4083

There are other convenient locations around town so check the yellow pages. Our friends swear by them. In the spirit of competition, much of the bru-haha may be because everyone else is using them to stay strong. If your child needs a little nudge in reading or math, it might be worth exploring.

  Sassy Stepford Tip:

Remember going to dancing school Friday nights and having to hold hands with the boys who inevitably had warts? Well now some of us have given birth to those boys and we certainly don’t want the girls to be grossed out by them. If you discover a wart on your child, try this handy dandy magic trick: Duct Tape. It is a wonder!

Warts and All –

Our dermatologist swears by this. Patients wore duct tape over their warts for six days. Then they removed the tape, soaked the area in water and used an emery board or pumice stone to scrape the spot. The tape was reapplied the next morning. The treatment continued for a maximum of two months or until the wart went away.

The duct tape irritated the warts, and that apparently caused an immune system reaction that attacked the growths. The duct tape treatment was found to be more effective than freezing the warts off with liquid nitrogen.

Wow! We’ll take it!

FIRST ANNUAL “FEED THE SPIRIT” BENEFIT GALA FEATURES WORLD PREMIERE OF NEW MUSICAL REVUE
--Evening of Music, Performance and Fine Food to Benefit Esther’s Pantry --

  • WHAT: An evening of musical performance, cocktails and fine food to benefit Portland nonprofit Esther’s Pantry will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the first annual “Feed the Spirit” gala. The event features the world premiere of the musical revue “Flip Side,” a gender-bending musical journey through life’s relationships told almost entirely through songs.

The seven-member cast will share a new perspective on relationships – from courtship, to parenthood to bittersweet breakups – all told through the voice and eyes of the opposite sex, two dozen well-known songs such as “Cell Block Tango” from the hit musical “Chicago” and Stephen Sondheim's “Being Alive” song made popular by Barbara Streisand from the musical “Company,” Performing in reversed roles, male singers perform the female vocals and vice versa. A clever departure from the traditional musical revue with a hint of a cabaret, the production is described as “tender, profound and hysterically funny.”

The formal-attire evening begins with a hosted cocktail reception and silent auction with entertainment provided by Grammy Award-nominated musical group “Sneakin’ Out.”

The gala organizers hope to raise more than $150,000 for Esther’s Pantry, a Portland nonprofit dedicated to providing food and essential services to financially disadvantaged people living with AIDS.

  • WHO: The talented ensemble includes “Flip Side” writer, director and performer Kirk Herring, and music director Steven Couch – both Portland residents. Herring, a professional actor, director and veteran Broadway performer, has been seen in leading roles in San Francisco’s long running Beach Blanket Babylon, and Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Phantom of the Opera. Couch, is the Director of Music at Metropolitan Community Church of Portland and the Director of Ether's Pantry.

Over the years Steven has composed and arranged hundreds of choral and instrumental works, collaborating with artists such as Nell Carter, Kristen Chenoweth and Esera Tuaolo.
  • WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 11 6 - 10 p.m. “Feed the Spirit” Benefit Gala

6-8 p.m. - Silent Auction and Hosted Cocktail and Hors d’oeuvres Reception
