| 1 | Hangover From Hell: We don't mean to suggest this would ever happen, but let's just say hypothetically, if it ever did, you’d need to be prepared, right? If ever you have a wee too many cocktails, God Forbid, and have a hangover the next morning, this is the perfect pal to wake up to. The Hangover From Hell Cooling Eye Mask available at Blush Beauty Bar. Makes a great girlfriend gift for your partner in crime. Okay, but again, hypothetically.... why not prevent it altogether in advance (not that WE would ever anticipate such a thing, nor even go there to begin with, but let’s just say if we did....) Run to your corner drugstore and pick up Chaser, the serious hangover prevention that stops hangover symptoms from happening in the first place. A recent survey shows that it takes an average of 3.2 drinks to cause a
hangover. For ten percent of people, all it takes is one or two. That's why
there's Chaser hangover remedy. Chaser absorbs the toxins in alcoholic beverages
that cause hangovers so you don't get one. Period. You'll wake up feeling
great. No headache. No nausea. No regrets (well, maybe some of those), just
hangover relief. Plan ahead and your head will thank you! |

| 4 | On the fur coattails comes fur accessories. This season, without furry fail, you must always be adorned with something-Fur. A fur muff is a must, a fur evening bag, or a glamorous boa will do the trick quite nicely (like this Silver fox boa from Adrienne Landau adriennelandau.com). Soft, luxurious and perfect for those of us who need to be pampered, fur is back just in time. Perhaps something to add to your holiday wish list? (It's never too early.) Feeling squeamish? When looking for fur accessories, faux fur will do just fine. Like this Faux Fur Pull-Through from Banana Republic. And this is just the refined touch to set your look apart. Pair this pull-through stole with everything from a tweed short coat to an evening dress for a stylish statement. This is a faux fur that looks and feels like the real thing! |

He loves it.) No! Jim needs to write his own darn thank you notes, thank you very much, if he wants to be a true gentleman and make a noteworthy impression. And these are manly enough; he’ll like them too! Check them out at M Wood Studios: www.mwoodstudio.com |

| 6 | Okay, boys, listen carefully. If you ask a girl out on a date, you have to pick her up in a car. Repeat after me, "CAR." Not a bike or Vespa, don't take the bus or Max (at least on the first date). She doesn't want your mother to pick her up. She doesn't want to meet you somewhere. A cab is just not cost efficient (especially if she lives in LO or another faraway locale). You can't suggest she pick you up in her car or she'll think she has to pay for dinner too. No, no, no. Bad first impression, very bad. She will forever mock you, forming the letter L with her thumb and finger and holding it to her forehead at the mere thought of you. So, whatcha gonna do? Okay, we realize you live in the Pearl, an urban lifestyle, I mean, who really needs a car anyway? New Yorkers don't have cars. But, my friend, this isn't New York, and if you want to go outside your little 'hood, you need to get there, right? And then there's that dating thing. A car is just a must. Well, we have the answer for you. FlexCar. It's ingenious. Here's how it works: All you do is Join Flex Car online, then you receive your FlexCard. Whenever you need a car, reserve one via web or by phone. Pick up the car at a nearby safe, reserved parking spot (no paperwork, no lines), you use your PIN number to open the car and get the key that is in the glove box, and then you are off! You don’t need a garage or a car payment but you do occasionally need a car and FlexCar is where you are, anytime you need it, it’s there. Imagine. Hot date tonight. And you pull up in a Mazda Miata convertible looking all "bad." You're golden. All because of Flex Car. |

| 9 | Rubber Boots. Okay, Soccer Moms, the rain has arrived! We don’t need to tell you. Clearly Hurricane Ivan has left some droppings in our fair town, too soon we might add, since it seems we went from summer to winter, skipping our favorite season of all, our Oregon fall. Nonetheless, we have our Soccer Saturdays and we must put our best foot forward. Nordstrom has the greatest selection of rain, grass and mud-friendly boots to choose from. We are particularly fond of these orange rubber wellies from Polo. They also have a great Cole Haan selection as well as simple Polo Sport ‘Fairchild’ Booties to wear under your jeans. Like our English-climate-counterpart, in our town rubber wellies are a staple. Or head over to Galore Department Store on NW 23rd for their adorable bright boots! |

| 11 | Mini Mink. Fur’s all the rage for you as well as your little one. She can be snug as a bug in a rug with her own fur rug, and quite elegant to boot. The Minimink rug, wrap, or throw is from Australia and made with baby in mind. Minimink is lined with 100% cotton, the highest quality, and is machine washable. And because of all the buzz, there’s been an overwhelming response from children, teens and grownups alike. They are coveting baby’s mink. So Minimink is growing fast and are now designing not so mini Minimink’s! A few months ago they started creating new products that we big people can enjoy – a Russian style hat (with or without ears), scarf and mittens and more. Each product is beautifully designed and suits both boys and girls. The Minimink makes a gorgeous gift for baby or you (and we just like saying the name: MiniMink, MiniMink, Minimink!) |

| Neighborhood Watch: A place we like to call home:
John’s Landing By Sheree Lillie |
|||
| Walking my little girl to school recently, on a
crisp, beautiful morning, I was reminded how very fortunate we are to live
in John’s Landing. This often forgotten district has the perfect mix
of culture, savvy, and coziness. After commuting from Vancouver to the Portland
French School for four long years, we gladly relocated to this neighborhood,
never dreaming that we’d love it so much! Only five minutes from downtown Portland, this charming neighborhood has much to boast. Willamette Park is the best-known main attraction. Its beautiful scenery, opportunities for tennis, sailing, kayaking, and a fantasy bike trail, make it popular among outdoor enthusiasts. (Our family prefers the latter.) No matter what you’re doing, you’re sure to be inspired to get your heart rate pumping! And because exercise isn’t exactly at the top of my list of Favorite Things To Do, I want to share a few of our favorite places to go. John’s Landing has so many delightful restaurants and shops; time won’t allow me to mention them all. |

Between early childhood and adolescence lies the vital opportunity for a child
to acquire a second language. Children at this age are uniquely “wired”
to master the complex skills of communication, and the immersion approach
is the best method for teaching a second language. My daughter will graduate
proudly from the 5th grade at the end of this school year. What a wonderful
experience! The Portland French School has boosted her confidence enormously,
and as a parent, can you ask for anything more? The Portland French School |

From 7:00 to 8:00 pm Blake will demonstrate the challenge and fun of glass bead making at Yum Gallery, located at 111 Oak Street. She will also showcase all of her 2004 designs. Magma, founded in 2003, is a distinctive line of lamp-worked glass jewelry. Each bead is unique, reflecting the natural flow of glass . . . hence magma. With an affinity for the medium, she finds that spontaneous accidents create the best designs. Blake makes her jewelry and teaches workshops at her Portland, OR studio. Yum Gallery opened in 2002 and quickly became a prominent destination for Hood River's art patrons. The mission of the gallery is to embrace life, art, and community. Each month they feature a new artist in addition to regularly hosting a variety of artwork to include sculpture, photography, painting, and jewelry.
