Vintage Couture

Eden Dawn, a local area designer, creates feminine clothes, sexy t-shirts, intimates and accessories combining famous vintage couture illustrations with modern fabrics and styles.

Like this Camisole, with a hidden shelf bra, that features an illustration of a 1924 corset by Rente. This corset was introduced in the twenties, using more elastic and less bone, in an attempt to maximize comfort. The hip huggers are adorned with the French word "reve" which translates to "dream." Who doesn’t dream about the perfect hip huggers?

Little Shop of Style

We’ve discovered an adorable little shop called Vanessa Marie. It’s off the beaten path at 606 SW 9th, upstairs inside "The Showroom". If you blink, you could miss it. Everything in the shop is hand made by the store’s owner!

She makes beautiful intimate apparel and silk and lace camisoles, all kinds of unique jewelry, and lovely hand knit ponchos, tops, scarves.

It is the kind of store where you feel surrounded by magical objects; your hands keep reaching out to touch as if the beautiful visions may disappear right before your eyes. Succulent to touch and outrageously lovely on, find Vanessa Marie’s lovely clothes and rejoice.

Occasionally, you need a little escape from the big department stores, just duck into sweet Vanessa Marie. It’s a treat that defies reality.

City Girl is so amazing! It’s a new store in Lake Oswego we mentioned last week, though in our post-Vegas-vegetative state, we forgot to mention the address. Oops.

They are such a cool store. Their idol is Fred Segal in LA if that’s any indication, and they carry amazing brands and unique items that Portland Picks adores.

Their t-shirt selection alone is legend (check out their new Chihuahua line by Kate Ruber). They also have a huge belt bar and a display of their famous flowers by Michelle Roy. They have sexy Melonets, which are fishnets with a twist, seen on all the celebs. We adore their flip flops which are adorned with crystals and a cute little diamond flower on the back by Jilly 10.
